Brown-Glazed Lidded Ceramic Vessel

A compact rounded storage or decorative vessel with a fitted domed lid and raised finial, finished in a deep glossy brown-black glaze and accented by narrow bands of lighter reddish-brown and cream around the shoulder and lid. The rounded body rests on a small foot in a pleasing, almost compressed ovoid silhouette; the fitted lid features a raised central finial pierced with a small central opening. The restrained contrasting bands give definition to an otherwise monochromatic, sculptural form.
